Thank you so much for joining us Sunday at the opening of the Exposed DC Photography Show. Our team had a wonderful time getting to know many of you as well as catching up with friends and photographers we hadn’t seen in far too long. We truly missed spending time together with the awesome DC photography community in person and appreciate you coming through to help us celebrate 15 years! If you have any feedback you’d like to share, we invite you to complete this brief survey.

The outdoor exhibition will be on view through June 27. Swing by to see the show, which is open and available to all, and be sure to check out all of the amazing small businesses in Mount Pleasant like Ellē located right around the corner.

We’re also keeping our Instagram contest open longer so you still have a chance to participate! The new deadline for entries is June 21. In addition to the outdoor exhibition, you can view all the winning images now in our first-ever virtual gallery. We hope you enjoy listening to some of the photographers talk about their images in the show; audio clips will auto-play when you view the work.

All the photos in the exhibition can be purchased online here, through the virtual gallery, or by scanning the QR code on any image in the outdoor exhibition. We also have our 15th anniversary exhibition magazine, beautifully designed by Rachael Carter, available for purchase online, and we’ll have some available at the show closing on June 27.

Thank you to Lost Origins Gallery and Focus on the Story for partnering with us on this exhibition and making our idea of an outdoor installation into a reality that surpassed what we could even imagine.

We’d also like to thank the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities for their support. To the Exposed DC team and our amazing volunteers: we couldn’t put this show on year after year without you. And, of course, we have the deepest appreciation for the amazing photographers of the D.C. metro area who so impressively document the many facets of all our lives here time and time again.

Exposed DC Photography Show – 15th Annual Exhibition

Exposed DC is excited to announce that we are partnering with Focus on the Story and Lost Origins Gallery to present the 15th annual Exposed DC Photography Show in an outdoor installation in Mount Pleasant. The exhibit will be installed on the exterior wall of Ellē restaurant at 3221 Mt Pleasant St NW. A special celebration of the 2021 Exposed DC photography show will take place on Sunday, June 6 at 3 p.m. as part of the kickoff for the fourth annual Focus on the Story International Photo Festival. Join us at the opening for a chance to win prizes from two of our sponsors.

Photo walks will take place in Mount Pleasant before the opening, and later that evening Glen Echo Photoworks will present their annual Photo Slam competition, livestreamed from Lost Origins Gallery. Exhibition magazines will be available for purchase at the opening as well as online here.

Since 2006, Exposed DC has produced our annual show to shine a spotlight on life in the D.C. metro area as seen through the lenses of some of the region’s most passionate amateur photographers and professionals alike. The show includes unique takes on the capital’s iconic locations, as well as everyday scenes captured outside of the tourist bubble. You can preview this year’s winning images here.

The outdoor exhibition will be open for all to view through Sunday, July 11. The Exposed DC team is also exploring additional, creative ways to share these images celebrating the Washington, D.C. area to ensure increased accessibility and safe opportunities to view the show. Around the World – Exposed DC at Crystal City Fotowalk

“Around the World” launched September 3, 2018 and featured 59 photographers from the D.C. metro-area who took us to places near and far through their travel images. The exhibit closed on March 31, 2019.

Exposed DC is excited to announce its 13th annual Exposed DC Photography Show, February 13 through February 24, 2019. The exhibit will be hosted by Touchstone Gallery, with support from the Touchstone Foundation for the Arts.

These 43 winning photographs were chosen from a contest for their unique view of the Washington area as more than just a tourist destination and political arena. They showcase and celebrate the experience of the people who live, love, work, and play here. Five photographs will be awarded our Best in Show award along with a $100 cash prize. Each award will be chosen by a panel of distinguished metro-area photographers: John Christopher Anderson, Sam Hurd, Darren Smith, Lauren Stockbower, and Jennifer Sakai.

The opening reception will be held Wednesday, February 13 from 6-10 p.m. Complimentary wine, beer, and snacks will be provided. A full color 13th annual Exhibition Magazine with all 43 winning photos will be available for purchase. Custom framing for the show is provided by Apex Moulding and Framing.

Advance tickets for the opening are on sale now for $20; door tickets will be $25. Government employees: We know the record-long shutdown continues to affect you. Use the promo code “furlough” and show a valid federal government ID at the door for a 50% discount.

Exhibit hours (free admission):
Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday through Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.
Closing day: Sunday, February 24

“Art in the Everyday,” which launched March 24, 2017, featured 88 photographers from the D.C. metro-area who create abstract and graphically-arresting images that make us take a second look at the environment around us. The exhibit closed on January 16, 2018.
