Enter the 14th Annual Exposed DC Photography Contest

November 7, 2019 By Noe Todorovich

Our 2020 photo contest is officially open for entries! Gather your best images showcasing life in the Washington, D.C. metro area and submit them by December 14 at 5 p.m. for a chance to be part of our 14th Annual Exposed DC Photography Show. That’s right; we extended the deadline a little bit to give you some extra time to submit!

Every year we enjoy seeing this city of ours come alive through your images of its people, places, art, music, sports, and everything in between. We can’t wait to celebrate another year of awesome local photography. Join us tonight at The Crown & Crow from 6-8 p.m. to kick off the contest at our monthly happy hour! A bonus for joining us: we’ll also be giving away two passes to the World Press Photo Exhibit opening at happy hour.

Rules and guidelines for entering the contest and participating in our exhibit are covered in the submission page. Please note that each submission costs $25 and includes up to four images, which you will add in the “Upload” step of the submission process. Please only select “Add another project” if you are entering more than one batch of photos to the contest.

If you’re looking for some inspiration, you can check out the winning images from previous years. Have questions or comments? Check out these FAQs, comment on this post, or chat with us at tonight’s happy hour. Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter, if you don’t already, to get all our contest and exhibit updates. If you’d like to join our team as a volunteer, please drop us a line.

Please note that Picter strongly recommends using a recent version of either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to submit to the contest. Each submission consists of a project which can have up to four images that are added in the upload step.

Exposed DC Welcomes Our New Executive Director

August 17, 2017 By Heather Goss

We have some exciting news today—at least, if you’re into big staff changes at your favorite local arts organization. Exposed DC is thrilled to announce that Noe Todorovich is taking over as Executive Director. We hope you’ll celebrate with us at our regular monthly happy hour on August 29 at Right Proper Brewery.

Noe is a full-time photographer who previously worked in communications for non-profit organizations. She was raised in Hawaii and moved to D.C. in 2004. Her work now focuses primarily on lifestyle photography and has been featured in Washington Life, the Washington Post, Northern Virginia Magazine, the Huffington Post, Capitol Romance, and Flickr Explore.

Noe first discovered Exposed by attending one of our annual shows, and was inspired to enter the next year. Her work has been featured in several of our exhibits, including our 10 year anniversary show, when she asked about volunteering with us. Now she’ll be heading up that annual show, as well as our regular Exposed DC events and exhibits through the year, and giving it all her own new style. Our team is very excited to barrel into our second decade with Noe at the helm.

We’d also like to thank Julian Thomas for coming aboard recently to take over our In Frame and Featured Instagrammers posts. (Don’t forget, to have your images picked, tag them #exposeddc on IG or put them in our Flickr group.) And we hope to introduce you to a couple more new folks around here in the near future. A hearty, ongoing thanks to our hard-working teammates who’ve been with us for years: Jennifer Wade, Caroline Space, Leigh Bailey, and Meaghan Gay.

James Calder, who has been my partner running Exposed for the last six years, is still amazing and will remain on our Board, as will I. Few things have given us greater joy than being in a position to show off the incredible work of D.C. area photographers, and we look forward to many more years of seeing it featured by Exposed.

Winning Photos of our 11th Annual Exposed DC Contest

January 31, 2017 By Heather Goss

We received a record number of photographs this year, thanks in part to extraordinary circumstances that extended our contest, which made it all the more difficult to suss out several dozen that would celebrate life in the nation’s capital. We’re proud to highlight images from institutions we welcomed as a city, such as the new era of organizing that the Women’s March has ushered in and the opening of the National African American Museum of History and Culture; smaller moments we reveled in like memorable art exhibits, snow days, and festivals; and then of course the subtle scenes that make every day life in D.C. such a rich experience. You’ll find the complete list of winners below. Save the date now for the opening of the Exposed DC Photography Show on March 9. We’ll have more information about our great new venue and the event details soon. New this year, we’ve partnered with FRAMEBRIDGE, a local company which will be printing and framing all the images for the show!

Here’s how to get involved, including contributing images to our daily features, coming out to happy hours, and being part of our other programming through the year.

Join us tonight to toast to the winners at Meridian Pint in Columbia Heights at 6 p.m. Open to all photographers and photography fans. Our team will be there, so please come and say hello and help us celebrate photography in Washington, D.C.
