The 2024 Exposed DC Photography Contest is officially open! We want to see this city of ours through your eyes. Submit your favorite images of the Washington, D.C. metro area by January 31 for the chance to be part of our 18th annual photography exhibition. 

Winners of the contest will be featured in the 2024 Exposed DC Photography Show to be held in Spring or Summer 2024, with more details to be announced in April. You can check out this page to view opening wrap-up posts and winners announcements from previous shows. We are thrilled to kick off our 18th year of celebrating local photography with you all!

The entry cost is $10 per image, and you may submit as many images as you’d like. More details are available on our submission site. Entries are accepted now through January 31 at 11:59 p.m. Important notes about the submission site are provided below to optimize your experience.

Submission Site Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Please use a recent version of either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to submit to the contest. You may encounter bugs or errors with other browsers or outdated versions.
  • While there is no limit to the number of photos you can enter into the contest, you will only be able to submit once. Please be sure to review your entire application thoroughly and confirm the price reflects the number of images you are entering before you hit submit. 
  • You can save your submission as a draft and return later to complete the submission process.
  • If you realize you need to edit after you have already submitted, you will need to request a refund from Picter support. This will put your submission back into draft status, and you will have to resubmit it once you make the necessary edits.
  • No refunds will be granted after the contest deadline.

  • PortraitMeetDC will be gathering in Georgetown Sunday from 3-6 p.m.
  • The 5th Annual Leica Women Foto Project Award is accepting entries through November 7 with a focus on themes of reclamation, resilience, and rebirth. Four winners will receive $10,000 and a Leica SL2-S camera set.
  • Exposed alum Jeffrey Morris organized a multi-media show with Art All Night and Shaw Main Streets that will be held September 30 from 7:00p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
  • The 12th annual WPOW Seminar + Portfolio Review will be held in person at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University on October 21, 2023. Get tickets for the whole day ($175 for general admission or $100 for students) or just the closing party ($35).
  • The beauty and mysteries of the universe unfold through the Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition run by the Royal Observatory Greenwich in the UK.
  • A cabinet full of Kodachrome slides was discovered lying on the sidewalk in a San Francisco neighborhood; the 920 slides within show the city undergoing changes in the 1960s and beyond.
  • Leica Store DC is celebrating 11 years with an anniversary event on October 26 featuring amazing photographers some of which have ties to Exposed!
  • Rock’s “accidental photographer” Henry Diltz received a lifetime achievement prize, the Icon award at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards.
  • Atsuyuki Ohshima photographed a monkey enjoying a free ride on the back of a deer in a Japanese forest.

  • The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) will reopen to the public on October 21 with free admission and festivities for opening weekend.   • SanDisk presents the winners of The Mono Awards, a celebration of the best black and white photography that is now in its fifth year.
