This week’s featured Instagram user is Tony Ibarra (@ibarragrams). Tony, who’s also a past winner of our annual Exposed DC photography contest, is a prolific shooter with a wide range of foci, from natural scenes to slices of the city. This week’s featured Instagram user is Phil Martin, @phil.martin. Phil is also the founder of the Make Portraits Not War (@makeportraitsnotwar) account and hashtag. Beyond the usual people-jumping-in-the-air and selfie-in-the-mirror shots, Phil’s best works are his portraits using available light.

This week’s featured Instagram user is Nomi Khan – @nomi.khan. Nomi’s abstracted urban slices offer a fresh take on the concrete, glass, and steel that make up any city. Through his non-square Instagram feed, the viewer gets to recombine the city’s varied patterns into an entirely unique mind-scape that is more than the sum of its parts. We had an extremely difficult time going through the 45 photos chosen for our Exposed DC / InstantDC Fall Review exhibition to pick the best of the best, but a few really stood out with regard to creativity, execution, and the ability to present a scene in a unique way. Come see all the images at the opening reception this Friday, October 3, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Washington ArtWorks / Washington School of Photography.
