Exposed DC Opening Reception by Paul Sirajuddin
Exposed DC Opening Reception by Paul Sirajuddin

I love the use of the tilt-shift-like effect in this image of the Exposed DC 10th Anniversary opening, shot by seasoned Exposed winner Paul Sirajuddin. It adds an unusual hazy, dream-like feel to the scene, not dissimilar to my own experience of the event! If you haven’t seen our earlier galleries of photos by Kristen Finn, then check out a small selection here, or the full set here.

Don’t forget you can still visit the exhibit at the Carnegie Library for free, Monday-Thursday, 10am-4pm, and Fridays, 10am-8pm, through Tuesday, March 29. You can also buy any of the photos via your smartphone while at the gallery, or online at your leisure!

Flame On by Paul Sirajuddin
Flame On by Paul Sirajuddin

An unusual moment powerfully captured by Paul Sirajuddin. Without knowing the context, the image of such a large conflagration so close to the Monument, with sparks swirling and people’s faces glowing from the flames, is simultaneously disconcerting and intriguing. If you don’t know the circumstances, click the link on the image title to find out in Sirajuddin’s description on Flickr.

Paul Sirajuddin gets up close and personal with yesterday’s snow. We’re not the only ones to have noticed Paul’s stunning macro shot – it featured on DCFocused.com along with details from Paul about how he managed to create the image, and it appeared in Capital Weather Gang‘s gallery of top snowstorm images.

Ravers at a safe distance by Paul Sirajuddin
Ravers at a safe distance by Paul Sirajuddin

This image by Paul Sirajuddin probably sums it up for those of you still recovering from the weekend on this gloomy Monday morning. Speaking of which, did any of you go see Billy Idol at the 9:30 club yesterday?? We’re terribly jealous, so send us pics please!

Nothing's gonna stop us by Paul Sirajuddin
Nothing’s gonna stop us by Paul Sirajuddin

Thank you Paul Sirajuddin not only for giving us this entertaining image, but also for planting one of the most unspeakably insidious earworms ever in my brain. Nothing’s going to stop it now.
