Bridget Murray Law (@birdettemurray on Instagram and @brainpsychmind on Twitter) has been a favorite of InstantDC for a long time. Her black and white photographs show striking dark silhouetted dreamscapes of the city. She creates a silence within the bustle of the city in each photo that is very hard to replicate. This week’s Featured Instagrammer is Sut Sae-Tia or @introvertmind on Instagram. He is simply one of the best mobile photographers in the D.C. area. His feed is brimming with images that incorporate strong patterns and symmetry, in a broad range of subjects, from still lifes to portraiture to urban landscapes. InstantDC Open Call – Counting Down

With under four weeks left before the deadline for our InstantDC 2014 Open Call, we thought we’d feature selected images from previous InstantDC contests and shows to give you a feel for what appeals to us. That’s not to say we’re looking for this photograph again, but rather that it’s something you might draw inspiration from.

One winner of a 2011 InstantDC contest, this particular image by Greg Schmigel stands out as a classic documentary photo, telling a story without giving it all away, letting the viewer’s imagination do the rest.

Through her travels in and around Washington D.C., Michela is honing a unique, colorful style that is constantly improving as she continues to experiment and share her photos on Instagram.
