  • The Paris Olympics have already given us a ton of terrific imagery, but the award for most viral photo thus far has to go to a stunning shot of a surfer taken in Tahiti.
  • Exposed alum Alain Gutiérrez is organizing a trip to Cuba for six photographers in November, $3,700/person, not including airfare, visa fee, or incidentals.
  • DC History Center and Off the Mall Tours are collaborating on a “District of Punk” downtown walking tour on August 14 at 5:30 p.m., $30 ($25 for members).
  • 14 VISIONS, a fine art photography exhibition juried by Allison Nance, opened at Multiple Exposures Gallery this week and is on view daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through August 25.
  • View the winning images of the 18th annual Washington Gardener Photo Contest at an art show opening Sunday from 2:00-3:30 p.m.. at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the opening reception of the 2024 Exposed DC Photography Show! The exhibit is open today at Fathom Gallery Georgetown from 5-8 p.m. and the rest of the weekend from noon to 5 p.m. Come by and say hello! The show closes next Friday, July 26.

  • Join us tomorrow from 2:30-5:00 p.m. at our exhibition for the CPC Social where you can meet Capital Photography Center (CPC) instructors, find out about classes available, and even win a $100 CPC gift certificate.
  • One of our Best in Show judges has an exhibition opening next week. Jada Imani M’s INFINITY & Beyond, curated by Khaleelah I. L. Harris, will open on Thursday, July 25 at Arena Social DC with a reception from 7-10 p.m.! Registration is free here.
  • A new exhibition at the National Building Museum reimagines the city’s sometimes loved, often hated brutalist concrete giants. Admission is $10; $7 for seniors, students, and kids; free for members and children under 3.
  • Multiple Exposures Gallery is holding a membership information session on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. as they anticipate two openings for membership later this year.
  • A team of imaging experts, scientists and historians set sail for the Titanic last week to gather the most detailed photographic record ever made of the wreck.

  • Do you want your very own wet plate portrait? 2024 exhibiting photographer Mac Cosgrove-Davies will be making them at Fathom Gallery Georgetown on Sunday, July 14 in conjunction with our gallery hours. Each session is 15 minutes long and costs $110 to cover materials; registration recommended as spots are limited.
  • PROGRESSION, a new fine art photography exhibition at Multiple Exposures Gallery through July 28, features a sequence of photographs with each one chosen for its relation to the previous image.
  • This week, the Washington Post introduced thew new Post Local newsletter covering everything happening in the D.C. area. Photos of the region can be shared via this form.
  • PortraitMeetDC will be at Dock 5 tomorrow from 3:00-6:00 p.m. for a garage sale themed meet.
  • The latest exhibit at Lost Origins Outside, co-created by Exposed alum Philippa Hughes and  Anthony Le, features 13 Vietnamese American artists.
  • Samsung unveiled versatile image sensors to improve smartphone photography.
