A New Way to Learn More About — and Purchase — Art at Exposed 2016

Exposed DC 2016 Show - Sample Title Card with QR Code

We are very excited to announce the launch of a new way to purchase the winning images in the 2016 Exposed DC exhibit. At the gallery, each artist’s work will be labeled with a QR Code that you can scan with your phone. This will open a link on your phone’s browser to more details about the work and the artist, including the artist’s website and social media. You also will have the opportunity to purchase the item right there – instantly!

Don’t worry, you can also purchase artwork the old fashioned way with cash or a credit card at the gallery. If you are not able to make it to the opening, all photographs are available to purchase at our online store. One thing hasn’t changed: These wonderful images of the D.C. metro area are all at reasonable prices for first time art patrons!

Exposed DC Photography Show Partner: Historical Society of Washington, D.C.

March 2, 2016 By Heather Goss

Exposed DC 2016 Show Partner - Historical Society of Washington, D.C.

We wrap up our fantastic list of partners with our biggest one: The Historical Society of Washington, D.C. Their organization is dedicated to preserving the stories of our city, making them the the natural ones to turn to when we were looking for a place to host our 10th anniversary Exposed DC Photography Show. What could be a better venue for an exhibit of images that tell the tales of modern life in the District? We’re so pleased to be working with them and holding our opening reception throughout the historic Carnegie Library with our other partners. Advance tickets for the opening reception are still available!

You’ll be able to view the Exposed DC show in their gallery on the second floor of the Library, and while you’re there, visit their ongoing exhibit Window to Washington, featuring the Kiplinger Washington Collection, in the Small-Alper Family Gallery. The exhibition explores the development of our nation’s capital, from a sleepy southern town into a modern metropolis, as told through the works of artists who witnessed the city’s changes. The exhibit includes some of the collection’s rarest and most iconic artworks and features rotating pieces from other holdings.

Exhibit hours for Exposed DC and Window to Washington:
Monday-Thursday: 10am-4pm
Fridays: 10am-8pm
Saturday, March 12: 10am-4pm
Closing day for Exposed DC: Tuesday, March 29

Exposed DC Photography Show Partners: Capital Photography Center

February 25, 2016 By Heather Goss

Exposed DC 2016 Show Partner - Capital Photography Center

The next great local photography organization that will be joining us for the Exposed DC Photography Show on March 10: Capital Photography Center. Founded in 2012 by Marie Joabar as an independent learning center for photographers of all levels, the Center offers classes taught by experienced professionals, from studio techniques to in-the-field shooting and even iPhone photography.

Joabar and some of her instructors will be holding Critiques in a Flash at the reception. They’ll project a selection of photographs throughout the night and discuss what makes a good image, and where it can all go wrong. Sometimes those flaws are fixable, so they’ll go over simple techniques in Adobe Lightroom that can help improve your photography. Would you like us to discuss one of your images? Email a photo you’ve been struggling with to capitalphotographycenter@gmail.com (just one please), and we’ll let you know if yours is selected and what time you can stop by the room to see your image displayed.

Stop by the Capital Photography Center’s room to see what they can offer and pick up information about their classes all around the D.C. area.

Buy your advance tickets for opening night soon!
