My eye was drawn to this photo from Xiaoxiao Peng by the combination of menacing, diagonal tree branch shadows and the perfectly level horizon of the wall, mixed with the rather incongruous figure of the adorably dressed child.

Victoria Pickering‘s dramatically cool photo leaves me with questions. Why is the subject standing in the open door with feet planted? Was the subject posing for Victoria, or for another photographer? Is the subject a mannequin? Has the zombie apocalypse begun?

Not all concert photos need glamorous stage lighting and exaggerated posing to get the point across. Noe Todorovich took this photograph at the We Are Scientists show at the Black Cat, and even though we don’t see the band’s faces, we still get the details of and feel for the event.
