Thank you so much to everyone who joined us last night for the opening of the 18th Annual Exposed DC Photography Show! We were thrilled to see you all, and we hope you enjoyed the celebration and the 42 images in the exhibit that showcase life in the Washington, D.C. metro area by the people who live, work, and love here. If you’d like to share feedback on the event and exhibition, we invite you to complete this survey.

In addition to exhibit hours, we also hosted two special events. On Sunday, July 14, exhibiting photographer Mac Cosgrove-Davies created custom wet plate portraits during a tintype demonstration. On Saturday, July 20, we held a social with Capital Photography Center (CPC) where people could meet instructors, find out about workshops and classes, and win a $100 CPC gift certificate.

If you’d like to purchase any of the photos on display, you can do so here. At the exhibit, you can scan the QR code on a title card to go directly to the page where you can buy that image! A collectible exhibition program is also available for purchase online or at the gallery during exhibit hours.

Special thanks to Fathom Gallery Georgetown for hosting our exhibition in their beautiful space and to our sponsors for their support: the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, Aperturent, Capital Photography Center, and Topo Chico. Thank you to Kendall Spink for sharing her graphic design expertise in preparing our beautiful exhibition program, our wonderful group of volunteers who make sure the event goes off without a hitch, and to our official event photographer, Mariah Miranda, who always captures the joy of our opening celebrations so beautifully! You can view the full set of images in this online gallery. We are ever grateful to this incredible photography community for their support of one another and Exposed DC.

The exhibit will be on view through Friday, July 26 during the following hours. Admission is free. A virtual gallery is also available for online viewing with additional information about the photographs and links to where you can view more of the photographers’ work. Be sure to turn your audio on to hear about some of the images from the photographers themselves as well!

The Exposed DC Photography Show is an annual highlight for the D.C. community, providing a platform for photographers of all levels to share their perspectives of the region. This year’s selection includes a diverse range of subjects, from surreal scenes like Amelia Earhart’s 1937 Cord on the National Mall and the 12-foot puppet known as Little Amal being surrounded in Union Station to stunning everyday scenes like the golden glow captured in the columns of the National Building Museum and a vibrant red car in an intersection seen from high above.

Five of the photographs will receive a Best in Show award along with a $100 cash prize. These awards are selected by independent judges who are acclaimed photographers with ties to Washington, D.C. This year, we are thrilled to have Pete Souza, Angela Pan, Stephen Crowley, Sharon Farmer, and Jada Imani M selecting these special awards.

Two special events will be held during the exhibit run. On July 14, there will be a tintype demonstration by featured photographer Mac Cosgrove-Davies. On July 20, there will be a social where people can meet Capital Photography Center instructors and hear about their photography classes and workshops for beginners to advanced photographers.

Since 2006, Exposed DC has been celebrating life and culture in the Washington, D.C. area through the lenses of photographers who live, work, play, and love here. The annual photography show is the organization’s flagship event that shines a spotlight on life in the D.C. metro area as seen by some of the region’s most passionate amateur photographers and professionals alike.

Join us for a visual journey through the capital region at the 2024 Exposed DC Photography Show this summer! A virtual gallery is available for online viewing. For more information, visit the rest of our website or follow Exposed DC on social media.
