Rapture by Rob Homann
Rapture by Rob Hohmann

We’ve heard reports of the floating people in Maryland, but now we are finally seeing proof. Photographer Robb Hohmann caught that perfect point in the dive where the swimmer looks like they are going to drift off into space.

Remember to browse our selection of free photography classes we’re sponsoring in September through Knowledge Commons DC. Our first class opened for registration this morning — head over to Gravelly Point on Tuesday, September 2, at 6:30pm to take photos of the low-flying airplanes headed in and out of National Airport. Our talented teacher Chris Williams will give you lots of pointers. Classes fill up quickly, so register soon!

And An Island Never Cries by Robb Hohmann

What better justice can you do for a foggy forested island than photographing it in old black and white film? The scratches practically etch out the evil spirits in this Penobscot Bay, Maine scene by Robb Hohmann.

"The Wedding Reception" by Robb Hohmann
“The Wedding Reception” by Robb Hohmann

Shooting weddings can be a lot of fun, particularly when you’re not the official wedding photographer. It seems likely that Robb Hohman was playing the role of guest when he snapped this vibrant candid shot of two fellow revelers engaging in the usual kinds of reception shenanigans. This pricelessly evocative image was captured on film using a Voigtlander Bessa-R3A rangefinder.
