I love this photo by Instagram user @graeme.sta.graeme. The sun is rising as I write today’s In Frame and the yellow-orange glow that hits my walls is the same color as this scene. The picture may be a little “off kilter” but its warmth and symmetry feel just right.

John Oliver’s segment where he makes a case for D.C. statehood on his show Last Week Tonight is funny and accurate. At the end of his rant, he sings a D.C. statehood song with children to tune of the “USA State Song.” Instagram user, @mikijourdan, snapped a photo of these children performing the same anthem on the steps of the United States Capitol. Preach!

This is my sentiment exactly, Holly Garner. Holly shares a photo taken by her friend Jarrett Henrdix of her slumped over a brick wall. It’s been hot and a busy summer. I can’t believe it’s already August—I’m glad that it is. Soon, it won’t be so hot and wearing sweaters will be more socially acceptable. Hang in there, Holly—we’ll do it together.

Today is another good day for monochromatic color. Antwain Jackson wishes us some St. Patty’s Day luck on this August Monday.

“On my Monday walk home, I wanted to make art,” Ellie Van Houtte declares in her Instagram caption and that is what she did. Ellie looks down beyond the ground beneath her feet, finds a geometric scene, and uses people as graphic elements in the frame. Her artistic photograph is wonderfully composed—I love how the travelers at Union Station sit directly on the yellow lines even when they change angles. What a great eye.
