I was first drawn to this image because of the bright green patch of grass. The geometrically framed image lead my eye to the red fence with two trees behind it–the colors and shapes were pleasing. When I read the caption that this was a prison, it really gave me pause. I was conflicted by what the structures represent but excited by the colors and shapes. Then, I realized the way photographer, Kristin Adair, uses the brick wall to frame the image, subtly closing the viewer out. This image is wonderfully composed and a powerful metaphor.

The old Lorton Prison may be closed, but by the looks of this photo from Jen Huls it is still a terrifying place. Being in a cell would be scary enough, but having to share it with the future star of the IT remake would put anyone over the edge.
