  • Join local photographers Albert Ting and Austin Graff tomorrow at noon and 2:00 p.m. respectively for photo tours exploring Georgetown’s best photo ops in conjunction with Away’s new store launch. You can grab some complimentary snacks and refreshments in the store beforehand.
  • Critical Exposure is looking for a Development Manager to bring thoughtful, reliable, and creative implementation to mission-aligned ways of resourcing the organization. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of October 16.
  • Matthew Phipps will have an artist talk, book presentation, and short film premier on October 15 at Lost Origins Gallery.
  • Anthony Barboza not only chronicled American history but also participated in it through his incredible career in photography.
  • The Magnum Square Print Sale returns on October 16; sign up for their newsletter to enter a giveaway to win a limited-edition print of your choice.
  • StreetMeet is holding its first-ever retreat in Shenandoah, VA from October 15-18, $450.
  • DC History Center’s “On The Square” community event will shine a spotlight on Carnegie Library and Mount Vernon Square on October 14 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free but registration is highly recommended to gain additional perks.
  • A nationwide photography contest for K-12 students is open for submissions through October 16.

  • Art All Night kicks off tonight with activations and events all over the city. Exposed alum Jeffrey Morris will be at 1340 8th St NW for The Fire and The Cross.
  • The WETA Arts October 2023 episode will feature street photographer Ashley Tillery who was part of the first MVT Photo Walk exhibit and is also part of the DC Street Photography Collective. A little birdie tells us Exposed DC will get a shoutout as well.
  • Don’t forget that you can also submit photos to the open call for the next MVT Photo Walk exhibit, which will show Mount Vernon Triangle through the lenses of residents, employees, and visitors of the neighborhood.
  • From a traditional Afghan box camera, a new view of life under the Taliban emerges.
  • Exposed alum Alain Gutierrez Almeida is offering a travel photography workshop to Seville and Granada, Spain in March 2024 for a limited number of photographers. Registration closes November 15.
  • Getty seems to be warming up to AI, now offering a new service that enables customers to create novel images trained on their own vast library of human-made photos.
  • Winners of the International Photography Awards have been announced.
  • Ansel Adams’ childhood home, a secluded Arts and Crafts chalet in San Francisco, hit the market for $5.45 million. Imagine taking the real estate photos for this one.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night for the opening reception and artist talk for the new MVT Photo Walk! Four local photographers spent 24 hours documenting #LifeInMVT in an exhibit that can be viewed 24/7 along K Street NW and in Prather’s Alley. We also want to thank HEMPHILL for hosting the event and Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District for partnering with us to bring photography to the streets of MVT.

  • The exhibit “Dap is a Love Language” is closing tomorrow at Creative Grounds DC.
    • An image of a peregrine falcon protecting her young from a pelican won this year’s Bird Photographer of the Year award.
    • An impressive meteor surprised viewers as far south as Richmond and as far north as New York this past Sunday.
    • Adams Morgan Day and Mt Pleasant Library present “History on Belmont” this Sunday from 12-6 p.m. with photographs and other art celebrating the neighborhood.
    • The Washington Post’s photography department set out to portray the rich human and natural landscapes that make up the region in this summer roundup.
    • Winners of LensCulture’s street photography awards captured everything from city cats to church gatherings.
    • Ben Geier’s ongoing series, Abandoned Theaters, show remnants and relics of an earlier era.
    • Commercial photographer Blair Bunting is one of a handful of people to ever fly in a U-2 spy plane with incredible images documenting the experience.
    • Check out the various classes Capital Photography Center offers if you’re looking to grow your skillset or gain special access to sites outside of regular hours.

    Join Exposed DC and Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District on Thursday, September 7 for an opening reception and artist talk for the new “24 Hours of #LifeInMVT” exhibition featuring photographs by Farrah Skeiky, Mukul Ranjan, Steven Cummings, and Justin “Olot” Featherstone. We’ll be meeting at HEMPHILL at 6:00 p.m. to view their current exhibits and enjoy complimentary iced tea and lemonade before heading outside to tour the photo walk.     • The first of two full moons this month graced us on Tuesday morning with people across the world capturing the sturgeon supermoon in full effect.
    • Nate Langston Palmer immersed himself in the world of a dance crew of young Black men in D.C. in a project he began after running into a group of dancers in his childhood neighborhood of Columbia Heights.
    • Fall and winter courses at Photoworks start next month with registration open now. For those with printing experience looking to work independently, their darkroom and computer lab are also open to the public on Sundays for $10/hr and $20/hr respectively.
