• The Smithsonian American Art Museum and BYT are having a museum after hours event on September 20 to celebrate the last weekend of summer, inspired by David Levinthal’s photography exhibit.
• Famed fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh died earlier this week at the age of 74. Harpers Bazaar and others reflect on his iconic work in the industry.
• Myanmar-based Zay Yar Lin is a sea captain by day who is also a self-taught photographer capturing scenes at sea and on land too.
• Freelance photographers, beware this overpayment scam that cost a wedding photographer $4,600.
• South African flowers frozen for three nights and photographed in water at dawn are the subject of the Zero Degrees project. 
• The opening reception of the National Press Club’s 20th annual members’ photo exhibit is tonight at 6:30 p.m. The exhibit features 37 print photos and 130 electronic images from 42 Club members.

• “My Iran: Six Women Photographers” opens at the Freer|Sackler tomorrow.
• If you’re into Stranger Things and LEGOs, then you’ll want to check out Hungarian photographer Lampert Benedek’s project.
• When Gordon Parks went to Brazil for Life magazine, his story about the favelas in Rio became largely focused on a boy named Flavio, with the story going in several directions from there.
• The Camera and Imaging Products Association released their June 2019 report, which shows that camera and lens sales continue to drop.
