• Tom Wolff and Frank Van Riper will be at Photoworks during Glen Echo Park Winter Fest on December 14 to take your holiday portrait for free with a suggested donation of $25 to Photoworks. 
• Winners of Image Quest 2019, the Red Bull Illume contest focused on sports and action photography, captured everything from a surfer kicking out from the barrel through a wave to a skydiver on a “megaswing” attached to a hot air balloon.
• Fujifilm opened a new store concept in London featuring selfie pods, photography studios, workshops, high-end gear, and more.
• A new book “Magnum Streetwise” follows the evolution of street photography as recorded by Magnum Photos with over 300 images from the 1930s to the present day.
• The World Press Photo exhibit at Dupont Underground closes on Sunday. Visiting hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and general admission is $15 with a reduced rate of $10 for military, students, groups, etc.
• View shortlisted images from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and vote for your favorite to help select the winner of the Lumix People’s Choice Award.
• Billy Meier’s UFO images, seen on The X-Files, are up for auction as part of a sale dedicated to space photography.

• In case you missed it, we announced the Best in Show judges for the 2020 Exposed DC Photography Show. Want them to select your image for a Best in Show award (and $100 cash prize)? Submit those potential winners to our 14th annual photography contest by December 12. 
• Glen Echo Photoworks is having an opening reception for an exhibit featuring photography by Katherine T. Andrle and Gayle Rothschild tomorrow, 5-7 p.m., and on Sunday there will be a reception and gallery talk for two visual essays by Kathryn Mohrman and Mac Cosgrove-Davies, 5-7 p.m.
• Terry O’Neill, the photographer who chronicled London’s 1960s culture by capturing the public figures who defined the era, died earlier this week at the age of 81.
• Stop Motion is seeking documentary photography from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia for their last slideshow of the year; entries due by November 30.
• Fstoppers and Wix teamed up for a series about building websites for photographers, with the latest edition focusing on the best ways to send traffic to your site.
• A new algorithm called Sea-thru removes visual distortion caused by water to bring clarity to underwater photos.
• An exhibit at SFMOMA features John Beasley Greene’s photographs that focus on ancient monuments and landscapes in Egypt and Algeria from the 1850s, including an excavation in progress.

Our annual photography contest will be open through December 12, so you have just under a month to submit your favorite images that show what you love about living in the D.C. metro area. • BlackRock Center for the Arts is having a gallery reception tomorrow for the opening of Captured Light: Current Photographic Processes, a regional juried photography exhibition, free, 3 p.m.
• 52 O Street Studios will be holding its open house tomorrow from 12-6 p.m., and Street Meet DC will be there to check it out.
• Join the DC Street Photography Collective (DCSPC) at Slash Run on November 20 at 8 p.m. for a night of photography featuring a presentation by NYC-based street photographer Reuben Radding and a photo critique with Radding and members of the DCSPC, $10.
• A D.C.-based nonprofit is looking for a photographer who specializes and/or has experience in product photography, specifically photographing books for marketing purposes, i.e. print, web, social, etc. This is not a one time gig, they are looking for a person they can work with throughout the year on various book publications. • There are still spots available for Momenta Workshops’ Marketing for Photographers at Lost Origins Gallery tomorrow, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., $180 with 50% of the proceeds being donated to two photo-related charities.
• As news of the latest fake TIME cover featuring State Department official Mina Chang circulates, TIME shares some of the ways you can identify a fake cover.
• The deadline for the Falls Church Arts fine art photography show has been extended to midnight on November 24.

In case you missed it, our annual photography contest is officially open for entries! We want to see the best images you’ve taken that showcase our nation’s capital as the place where we live, work, and love. Gather your favorite photos you’ve taken so far or get inspired to capture new ones. You have until December 12 at midnight to submit to the contest.

• Head to Dupont Underground tonight for the opening reception of the World Press Photo Exhibition, 6:30-10:00 p.m., $25-35. The exhibit represents the best visual journalism of the past year with images exploring a wide range of topics.
• American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center’s late fall opening reception tomorrow from 6-9 p.m. includes two photography exhibits.
• David Sorrenti’s mother reflects on her late son, whose photography she’s anthologized in a new book.
• Join local photographer and Exposed alum, Amanda Archibald, for a Mobile Photography Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Steadfast Supply in Ballston Quarter, $40. The course covers everything from capturing powerful pictures on your camera phone to using the most essential editing apps.
• Leica Store D.C. is hosting a Leica Q Owners Workshop on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., $199.
• Stop Motion is seeking documentary photography from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia for their final volume of the year.
• A new book explores what it was like to photograph Audrey Hepburn and includes rare photos.
