Flickr user alsacienne uses the window panes to divide this scene in multiple little moments. What a good frame for today’s In Frame.

Shop Owner by Zach Kalman
Shop Owner by Zach Kalman

Photographer Zach Kalman captured a nice moment in this image. This photograph seems completely different than Monday’s In Frame, except that in both images the gestures of the subjects’ hands and the objects they hold are what keep me fixated on the scene. It’s rare these days to see someone smoking inside a public space, which, like Monday’s selection, makes it seem like it’s from a different era.

Smooth Operator by Bridget Murray Law
Smooth Operator by Bridget Murray Law

I’ve seen a lot of great images with wonderful uses of contrast lately—Bridget Murray Law’s photograph is no exception. She sets the mood with her stunning use of light and shadowing that characterizes the contemplative man standing by the window. The scene is timeless and I feel a sense of familiarity to the image.

"Co Co" by Gerda de Corte
“Co Co” by Gerda de Corte

Where to begin with this dreamy shot from Gerda de Corte? First there’s the slight disorientation as you try to figure out which head belongs to which body. Then you’re all “Wait, is that Maggie Gyllenhaal? Or a maybe a young Linda Carter?” And to cap it all off,  there’s the gorgeous color palette.
