Victoria Pickering transformed an everyday scene in L’Enfant Plaza into a frame that could have been pulled from a Hitchcock movie, thanks to the slight movement of the silhouette and positioning of the woman in the frame, and to the excellent composition and drama of the photo.

This long exposure photograph from Victoria Pickering brings out many great colors we wouldn’t see in a daylight photo. The interior lights from the bus and the lights from the cars add to the ever-so-slight movement of the people the image.

"Running back into Congress" by Victoria Pickering
“Running back into Congress” by Victoria Pickering

Run Congressman (or Congressional Staffer), run! Run for your life!! Well, probably just to avoid being late. Though if I worked there, I’d absolutely be watching my back every time I entered or exited the building. Nicely framed, Victoria Pickering.

Our Flickr pool has seen a predictable spike of late in festive images from local county fairs. While I do love the warm glow of a spinning Ferris wheel at night, the radiating geometry and clever framing of this shot from Victoria Pickering differentiate it from the rest.
