It’s officially Summer. This photo by Chris Suspect reminds me of the endless summer shenanigans of youth. The ones that are filled with spontaneous decisions we might not have made sober but the ones that became fun anecdotes we reminisce about with friends. The moment in which the person is captured is frozen is an odd and interesting motion that keeps me focused in the frame.

There’s something about this image by Bella Maria Varla that reminds me of 90’s pop music. I feel an odd sense of John Waters’ Cry Baby meets Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time.” How can you not love that bubblegum pop? It’s a quirky nostalgic photo that is also well composed and conceived—not to mention the image also has my favorite kind of lighting.

Hello, D.C.! Unlike this poor fellow, I wasn’t taken by a UFO, so after a brief hiatus Exposed DC’s In Frame is back! This delightfully playful image by Cristina Angelica was first to catch my eye. The sheer joy of the photo and the witty caption is how I strive to be every day—living with glee in a wonderfully framed world. I can’t wait to see more from my fellow Washingtonians.

Keep photographing!

This is a wonderful light study, Lisa. It’s not only that but, this is an interesting image that tells a story that I want to know more about. What happens in the kitchen? Who are the people that use that kitchen? I find some of the most intriguing photographs are of a scene that tells so much but still leaves me asking questions, and I keep thinking about it even when it’s not in front of me.

It’s here. You might have heard about the Hirshhorn’s new blockbuster exhibit, and if you haven’t you’re about to see it everywhere. Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors is a special and delightful treat for Washington. Kusama‘s Infinity Mirror Rooms have been installed globally but the Hirshhorn is hosting six different rooms for an exciting retrospective. James Jackson is one of the lucky first few to see the exhibit. You will need to register for free timed passes to enter. Set your alarm for Monday, February 27th—the next release for passes. They will sell out!
