This photograph, taken by Bekah Richards, demonstrates a beautiful play with the transparency and reflectivity of shooting through glass. The photographer angles her camera in a way that allows her to capture a rainbow of blue, green, purple, and yellow to take advantage of the natural lights effect on the window’s condensation. Loving this shot taken by John Brighenti with a Sony ILCE-7RM2 camera. The low perspective gives a more dramatic effect to the shot, focusing on details that we may not have noticed otherwise. The light shines on the damp leaves scattered across the ground, freezing a moment in time. It is not hard to imagine oneself in the space as it reflects the cold and rainy winter season we are having. Thanks for sharing, John!

As if it were straight out of a horror film, photographer Mike Maguire, captures the eeriness of the Halloween season. The photographer uses the light of a street lamp to emphasize the Annabelle-like doll perched on a swing. Many homes in the Georgetown neighborhood get into the “spirit” of the season, creating inspiring displays for any photographer. Check it out if you can! Thanks to Mike for the chilling image!

Photographed at the H Street Festival this past weekend, photographer Miki Jourdan has captured the emotions many of us feel when working out. The close-up portrait highlights the details of the subject’s face as we can see drops of sweat beading down her face. We can also see how tense the figure’s body is by the constriction of veins in both her neck and hands. Capturing this level of intensity really helps me as a viewer put myself into the experience of the subject. Thanks for sharing, Miki!

What a beautiful photograph captured by John Brighenti while on a camping trip. The smoke from the campfires wafted through the trees giving the surrounding area a mystical aura to it. The smoke works to enhance the light’s reflection reinforcing the quiet ambiance that the photograph invokes. What a wonderful image; thanks for sharing, John!
